The team stay in second place, one point behind Kilburn Cosmos, although, had they taken all their chances, they would have gone top.

Three tries to two, against Haringey Rhinos, gave a misleading score-line at the end but the main question is why BE did not kill off their opponents much earlier, given the amount of possession and territory they had over their opponents. In the first half, in particular, BE rarely left their half but could only come away, at half-time, with a 14-0 lead through three HARRY EADE penalties and a try from LUKE WILLIAMS when the flanker was first to pounce on the loose ball after the Haringey fly-half had his attempted clearance kick charged down on the gol line. BE should have scored a couple of other times but tried the bash-through-the-centre option when there were overlaps on the wings. On other occasions, timing was slightly wrong as their runners chased after kicks ahead only to be called back for being offside.

In the second half, BE were playing downhill and that should have been the platform on build on their lead. However, Haringey were determined to keep the ball away from BE whilst the Haringey set scrum caused BE a few problems. Both sets of backs snuffed out the other team quite well when moves were likely. In the end, a LLOYD MORGAN storming run took him almost up to the goal posts before being stopped: he found HARRY EADE in support and the former Colt fly-half scored a try, bouncing off the padded post before kicking the conversion. The same player finished off a break-away move for his brace of tries.

In the final ten minutes, BE took their foot off the pedal and Haringey responded with two late tries, one from a simple overlap and the other when two BE players were bamboozled by a chip kick which landed between them, only to see the ball bounce into a Hanginey hand and a simple try, converted.

The 1st XV has no game this Saturday - their next League game is at home to Feltham on 11th October at 3pm. The Mini Festival takes over Byng Road on Sunday (4th) with hundreds of home and visiting players from many other Clubs.
