Hard work by the BE pack was the thrust of this fourth successive League win.

Much of the game was played under heavy dark skies amid thunder and lightning which circled around Byng Road. Perhaps the colour of the sky was the result of watching a fairly dreadful game of rugby with both sides making uncharacteristic errors in both attack and defence. However, the strength of the BE front eight ensured they would always be in the ascendancy although Feltham's midfield had their own plans as they attacked strongly around the loose and set scrum.

The early minutes suggested a one-way affair as BE scrum after scrum drove the visitors backwards only for there to be mistakes at the base with neither No 8 nor scrum half communicating and most of the ball was lost, dangerous as Feltham had already shown their skills with ball in hand. It was still a surprise when the visitors did take the lead with a well worked handling move setting their right winger over for an unconverted try - in fact, all five tries were unconverted but more of that later. BE returned to their scrum power play although it took a powerful run through the Feltham 22 to set up their equalising score, PETER MOULTON making the decisive break before finding JAMES ORAM who went over for a try. That was Captain Moulton's last effort as he sustained a hamstring injury and had to make way for LLOYD MORGAN who immediately made an impact as he, characteristically, tucked the ball almost up his shirt and then allowed his pack mates to drive him over for the try. 12-5 to BE at half time.

Feltham continued to run strongly in the second half and BE had a long period of play in their own 22 before their scrum and line-out, the latter being controlled by JAMES ORAM, MATT GREENWOOD and CHRIS BROMILEY, dealt with the visitors and, effectively, settled the outcome of the game even though the errors by both sides continued amidst the heavy rain, thunder and lightning. A period of BE pressure play in the away 22 saw LLOYD MORGAN score his second try, similar to his first. Then, an attempted clearance kick by a Feltham back only found the bulk of prop, HARRY AVENT who had an easy rebound ball to dive on for the vital fourth try and bonus point.

The only minus point was no success for the goal kickers - HARRY EADE missed three first half penalty attempts plus the first three conversions whilst MATT HARRIS hit the goalpost with the final conversion attempt, all very easy kicks. More practice, lads !
