Brutal game with both teams up for it today

By Leevin Ngimbi

It was no surprise that that Barnet u15 vs Hemel u15 was an intense game today after their long rivalry . Hemel have always come out on top and Barnet had something to prove today after a hat trick of wins under their belts .
The day started with the sun glistening and skies turbulent meaning some good rugby was about to commence.
Barnet started of the match kicking to Hemel, and putting them under an immediate pressure but Barnet couldn’t suatain the intensity leaving too many gaps and conceding in the first five minutes . It was a well deserved try after great running and ball movement from Hemel. Hemel then added two points to the score board with a magnificent kick from the right corner of the pitch. Hemel gave Barnet the impression that they had no chance but after a good team talk led by temporary captain Reece Kelly the boys were soon pumped up indeed the front pack deserve a mention as they started and finished in an amazing form today.
Some great aggressive running by Ross Forrester gave Barnet their first try of the game. Two extra points for Barnet followed after some great kicking from new number 10 Ted Parker.
Within the first ten minutes the supporters found their voices and the match got properly underway . With some poor tackling by the barnet backs Hemel scored another try followed by a superb kick to give them the extra two points. The first half ended at 14-7 to Hemel.
As soon as the second half began the Barnet and Hemel boys were caught up in some aggressive rucking with both no.8 causing their teams and coaches to turn from cool kids to hot heads.
As the first hour of the game came to a close end our very own Leevin Ngimbi scored great try showing strength and pace to get the try under the post giving Ted Parker the chance to score another conversion. The rest of the game Barnet continued with great heart as the boys scored three more tries . The first from debutant Dylan Jimni who had a superb game at 5 , then Parsa Mohajer whose tackling was immense and Harry Joseph who scored after a brilliant offload by Jacob Hofmann. Ted Parker successfully converted all three kicks and a penalty goal to round up the final score to 38-14 to the home side Barnet Elizabethans.

Special mention to the two new debutants Dylan Jimni and Cameron Giwa McNeil. Also to all the supporters who came through to watch and spur us all on , we are extremely thankful. Finally to Tom Watt and George Sturley who came to watch even though they were both injured.

Coaches notes -

Player of the day goes to Teg Sing for some excellent tackling and consistently being there to disrupt Hemels Game . It was always going to be an close aggressive game with both teams having something to prove . Despite both teams having a player sent off Ref Mostyn Jenkins was always in control ( unbelievably at times ) and was always fair . Its always hard to lose and respect to the Hemel boys who gave it their all and were respectful to our players at the end of the game . Well done lads .

Looking forward Barnet still need to support their runners and can't afford not to move up especially against an aggressive team like Hemel . Special mention to Ross who was immense today and to Leevin for the match report .
