You've gotta be in it to win it

Another beautiful morning to play rugby . ( who would have thought it was october ). Its always a pleasure to turn up in the sunshine with half the village making their way to church and the other half off to the rugby pitches . With a lot of players away this week Barnet were again playing a development squad with a number of very new players but this week bolstered by our new lads Cameron and Dylan .

From the whistle the Datchworth boys took control with Barnet struggling to keep up with play and allowing Datchworth to go 3 tries up in the first 14 minutes . Whist cover was being pulled out Datchworth were always maintaining the overlap and the few chances Barnet had were either given away with sloppy passing , or being turned over with players not keeping up .

It is always important to take the positives from these games and it has to be said that the Barnet lads realised their weakness and started to pick it up towards the end of the first half most notably by Dylan Jinmi taking charge and sorting out positions.

After a wasted penalty Barnet finally found their feet with Cameron McNeil bullying his way over the Datchworth line .

After a good half time chat Barnet picked up the pace with Parsa Mohajer scoring in the opening minutes after some quick hands put Datchworth on the back foot . Datchworth responded immediately scoring once again in the corner . With Harry Joseph stepping in as Hooker the scrums switched to being uncontested and allowed Barnet a bit more time to control the game . Dylan Jimi was entually rewarded for all his hard work with a super try and Ted Parker was unluckily not to score off several short kicks which didn't bounce his way today . With Parsa Mahajer scoring again off his trademark line line out move Barnet were finally in contention but with the whistle blowing dead on 60 minutes Barnet were unable to bring it back .

Special mention to Leevin who was immense as usual and also to new player Allessandro who put in some solid tackles given its only his second game . Man of the match not least for throwing up half way through went to Dylan for showing great leadership and coaxing what was eventually a good performance out of a sleepy Barnet . We still need to work on our body positions , and tackling especially when presented with taller oppo but most of all we need to remember to get ourselves in the right headspace from the whistle .

Thanks to our hosts for the late fixture , the Datchworth pitches were immaculate today and both coaching teams are hopefully that we can arrange a rematch later in the season .
