Solid performance from Barnet in front of the sponsors !

I think it would be fair to say this was the match that Barnet coaches and players alike have been training for . Having been beaten last season in our league game against Finchley there was a mixture of both nerves and excitement this morning with some players turning up an hour early for the game . It was also our sponsors Lynch plant hire's first game and an opportunity to meet the lads in their new kit .

With 4 league games at Finchley today our KO was delayed till nearly 12:30 so both sides were feeling the cold when the starting whistle finally went . The opening minutes were very tense with both teams equally matched . Finchley using their big players to make progress through the centre metre by meter and then Barnet making the break but then losing the ball either through careless passing or not protecting the ball well enough at the breakdown . Ted Parker narrowly missed a score after a neat chip down the line but it was Ross Forrester putting Barnet ahead after a blistering run at 10 minutes .

Finchley responded immediately and it was only a clearance by Ted parker over the Barnet line that kept Barnet ahead . From that clearance Dylan Jinmi was able to pick and go to put Barnet 2 in front with Ted safely making the conversion . Finchley once again replied strongly scoring just minutes later . Play was tense for the remainder of the first half with a lot of decisions going against the Barnet boys . Indeed some 27 were given against Barnet today ……

On the restart finchley's kick landed squarely in the face of Reece who was left dazed as the finchley centre caught the ball on the bounce and scored . ( does that go down as a try assist ? ) Unbelievably and maybe having seen the precedent set a fumble by the Finchley full back allowed Parsa Mohajer to chase the ball down on the restart . I think its fair to say that Finchleys heads started to go down from that moment and Barnet punished them for it with tries in quick succession from Ross ( would make a good 100m runner ) , Cameron ( with a blistering run down the wing ) , Ted ( with a great trademark short kick ) and Leevin with a great run , fall , roll , sidestep and score down the middle .

All the boys showed great team spirit today , including those on the sidelines and the win was thoroughly deserved . Respect to the Finchley boys who gave it their all and for the first 40 minutes certainly looked to be in contention .

Player of the day was given to Parsa Mohajer for some key tackles , and keeping going despite injuring his shoulder and taking a great opportunistic try . Great job Barnet .
