The Finchley game today very much reminds me of that famous Rowan Atkinson sketch ( 37-0 ) . Where the coach tries to gee them up at half time . Now all we've got to do is score 4 tries …. why not ? They did …
Its always tricky playing a development game , especially having beaten Finchley twice this season but it was very much the coaches objective in what was essentially a training game to allow some of our newer players to try out different positions and get some valuable competitive game time against a known side .
Without many of our big forwards Finchley dominated , and with the extra time a slow Barnet gave them they were able to run some convincing lines racking up an impressive score line . Like Kev says the forwards win the game , the backs decide by how many .
Leevin Nigimbi who was awarded Player of the match was the only player to score when Barnet picked up their play in the closing minutes . The first 20 minutes also had some noteworthy performances from Harry who did a superb job hooking ( not least stealing the opponents ball in 2 finchley scrums ) as well as cleanly sweeping out the ball from Barnet's put in . However the backs at times looked lost , and passing was at best mediocre
Whilst it was difficult for some to watch I think all the boys got valuable time with Usman making some good runs and Josh stepping up in the front row . It will make our team stronger in the long run . Callum was impressive in the rucks , there was some better tackling from some of our less confident players but allowing the Finchley lads to get up a pace and their sheer size were too much for Barnet today .
Now does anybody know what this is ……… Thats right Yunus , its the ball ….. Now does anybody know what we do with it ?
you get the idea …..
