Today was a test for players , coaches and team admin alike . Our first attempt to play 2 consecutive games at different locations with only 32 boys , and whilst a little fraught it was credit to everyone involved that we achieved 2 good wins and valuable game time for everyone .
Chesham looked very strong in the opening minutes and after a strong handoff by Cameron to fellow player George Barnet opted to reverse their very similarly coloured shirts !
Inevitably Barnet looked a bit loose in the early moments with such a disparity of ability allowing the better organised Chesham to break through . But the more experienced players adapted surprisingly quickly with Parsa delivering some try saving tackles in his position on the wing . If He thought it was going to be less demanding out there he was wrong and in both halves he delivered some crucial runs indeed scoring twice today when rotated into centre .
Barnet defended exceptionally well and Chesham were unlucky not to score again in the first half , as was Yunus who just couldn't quite get the ball down cleanly . Barnet were also praised for their line speed and pressing their 9 and 10 which just didn't allow Chesham to play the ball even when they did win the rucks .
The second half was much the same with Cameron McNeil doing most of the work driving the ball forward . His effort today was palpable and he was the deserving player of the day . Other mentions to Oli , George , Leevin , Charlie and Jacob for some solid performances today .
Thanks to Chesham for a well managed game and credit to them for having 16 lads so clearly up for it ! We look forward to returning the favour .
