Today was a tricky game to really evaluate other that it was good fun and a great chance for some of our newer and development players to get some valuable game time . Firstly a special shout to George Sturley for making it despite getting back from Skiing in New Hampshire this morning !
Play started off seemingly in slo mo with both sides making solid progress , arguably Harlow looking the better team . There was some good ball movement and a particularly strong performance by Al MacGuiness looking very comfortable on the wing and from George making some good driving runs . Ted managed to put Barnet up at 8 minutes with a lovely chip when faced with 4 Harlow defenders and Dylan Jinmi consolidated the lead finding himself on the Harlow line just at the right time .
Some player rotation at half time brought on the remained of our players with Connor Smith putting in a great performance setting up Ikechi to score . Leevin at full back was a pleasure to watch , possibly not for Harlow who were warned ! I don't know whether its sorcery or the generous application of lard but when that lad gets the ball there is just no stopping him . It was one of the highlights hearing the parents groan and the coaches scream " don't kick it to him again ! "
Man of the match goes to Connor Smith for doing exactly as he was asked , making some great tackles and arguably securing the 4th try and victory today . Rucking was good from everyone , players just needing to push a bit further allowing 9 to secure the ball . Line speed needs some work , as does remembering position and not getting sucked in .
Next week is our last league game away at London Welsh . It would be great to have as many parents down as possible to Old Deer Park .
