Barnet Elizabethans RFC Academy

BERFC are the oldest club in Hertfordshire being founded in 1919, providing opportunities for player progression & team bonding in a competitive, challenging, safe & fun environment !

The Academy is for boys who are U17 or U18 years old at the beginning of September, i.e. in the 6th or 7th year of secondary school or year 12/13.

About Us:

2022/23 season our team will play League Matches in Herts/Middx Divisions and compete in both national and local cup competitions. We will also play regular friendly fixtures against local opposition where emerging players are given the opportunity to progress and play at a competitive level

We have a growing squad of 30+/- players, who travel from a wide area of North London and Hertfordshire who regularly turn up to train & play. We offer structured rugby skills training, as well as fixtures against other Junior/Academy teams in Hertfordshire, Essex, Middlesex & Bedfordshire. In addition, we also enter County and National competitions & this season culminating with a Tour to (Destination to be confirmed ?)

We cater for players of all abilities - whether they have been playing to a high standard with lots of ability and experience, right the way through to those who have never picked up a rugby ball before. Our ethos is Fun, Fun, Fun - there's plenty of time for them to develop into the next International, rugby superstar of the future!

Training & Playing:

We usually train and play every Sunday morning. All 'home games' are played at our ground at the bottom of Byng Road and training starts at 11:00am. When we have away fixtures, we advise parents in advance (most games are reasonably local). We usually train for the first hour and then play a match against the opposition.

We also offer midweek training on Tuesday evenings, starting at 19:30 & finishing 21:00 with free light refreshments afterwards !

Please ensure your son has some boots, a mouth guard along with appropriate clothing/kit.

Getting involved:

If you would like your son to play fun rugby with a great bunch of players (and RFU qualified coaches!), you are very welcome to join us. You can just turn up on Sunday morning or Tuesday evening and give it a go. There is absolutely no pressure. They can join in for the first few weeks (at the start or at any time during the season) to see if they like it.
For the Academy Team this season, the New Age Grade Rules of Play have been published and some changes from last years rules have been added, so it's a great time for players to join and develop their new found skills
