As long ago as Sunday 7th October, BERFC conceded the RFU Vase fixture, citing lack of players, especially to satisfy the RFU match regulations (at least five players must be available for the front row). With DUMIE SIBANDA hurting his back the day before (6th), against London New Zealand, the BE player squad was depleted but now even more so after that game. However, it is disappoining that as a Level 8 Club, with three senior sides, and enough time to register players, the Club decided it could not comply with the match requirements.
The Club will face a two year ban, at least, from this RFU Competition. The same penalty occurred about eight years ago. The Club needs to
address this problem, when faced with a long distance away game. In addition to player availability, the financial assessment of away games involving coach travel, needs to be reviewed.
BE are back on League duty this Saturday when they are away to Hitchin (3pm kickoff).
