After a very barren November and December, 2015 brought about new luck and a well deserved win for the 1st XV.

This was close to their best team they have fielded all season and they showed every possible attacking moves, straight from the kickoff (admittedly helped by the strong wind behind them but equally they adapted their tactics after half time to close out the opposition and the conditions.

After several good early runs - MATT NICHOLAS being involved all afternoon - ROBBIE CAMERON-STAFF put BE on the score-sheet with a blistering run down the wing from the half way line: his try, wide out, meant a difficult conversion attempt for HARRY EADE but his kick hit the upright and bounced away. Having seen how the backs were dominating, the pack started to get going, winning a lot of line-out ball - theirs and a fair share of Haringey's although both hookers had difficulty throwing in straight with the gusty wind (KIERAN PORTER coped better than his opposite number). From a poor Haringey thro, the ball went wide, DAN TAYLOR snapped it up and sent PETER MOULTON charging into the 22 - just before he got to the line, he passed inside to JAMES ORAM who had a simple touch-down and an even easier conversion for HARRY EADE. Minutes later, it was PETER MOULTON who scored with a pushover try, with HARRY EADE adding the conversion to make it 19-0 at half time.

As I said, earlier, BE changed their tactics to play the game close to their chests, making short simple passes - well, almost always - and it soon paid off whenPETER MOULTON bulldozed over for a try, wide out. Unfortunately, as he scored, he injured himself so had to sit out the rest of the game. No worries as BOBBY GRAHAM was using his rolling subs well and RICKY STEVENS came on to replace the Club Captain and was soon showing that he, too, could control the ball at a driving pushover scrum: his try and HARRY EADE's conversion made it 31-0 before Haringey rallied, briefly, to score a converted try. That just set up BE to score the best try of the game, started in the forwards but finished off in the backs, the ball going through several pairs of hands before TOBY SMITH finished off a fine move with the sixth try.

The 1st XV are away to Feltham this coming Saturday (17th) at 2.15pm.
