Big result for the Barnet Lads

Fullerians Match Report by Karl Laing

Glorious sunshine and perfect Rugby conditions were the backdrop to our 2nd League fixture of the season away to Fullerians.
The squad was good in numbers and eager to get going, with a point to prove following last weeks narrow defeat to arch rivals Saracens.
Un beknown to the boys we had David Toon from the Herts DPP set up on the side-line to watch the Game.
15 mins delay but we finally get underway, Fullers kick off .
Kick off didn’t go 10 meters, but Fullers played the ball resulting in a Scrum to Barnet in the centre of the pitch.
Good work off the back of the scrum some good phase play used to build a platform for the backs resulting in a penalty to Barnet .Tap and go from Barnet and 3 phases later and Dillon crosses the line with Tom Watt adding the conversion . 7:0 Barnet.
Fullers kick off and the ball finds touch and after turning the ball over Fullers build up some pressure leading to some great defensive work and an immense hit from Parsa . Barnet win a penalty and Tommy clears the lines.
After some phases of play Fullers win the ball off the back of a lineout and go over in the corner, conversion missed 7:5 to Barnet
Barnet’s kick off in to touch fullers knock on from the line out Dillon picks and goes from the base of the scrum stopped with a high tackle, quickly taken penalty some good phase play Dillon scores again. Conversion successful 14:5 to Barnet.
A jinky run from Tom Watt and we’re deep in Fullers half .A big speculative and risky pass pays off and a powerful run from Ross takes him in under the posts. Another conversion by Barnet gave a lead at half time 21:5
The second half starts with sustained pressure from Barnet and a storming run from Josh BG unfortunately tripping otherwise he surely would have been in.
Fullers kick a penalty that doesn’t find touch, Barnet come back strong with some great through the hands play including a great off load from 2nd row Reece Kelly resulting in Tom Watt scoring under the posts. Fullers number 8 and captain has some off the ball “discussion” with Tom and is yellow carded . Another successful conversion meant Barnet led 28:5
Barnet still looking the stronger team in both defensive and attack resulting in being held up over the line. Great play from the scrum ball down the line and Louie Mcardle’s in for another try, didn’t get the conversion this time . 33:5 Barnet lead. Fullers skipper back on from his sinbin.
Fullers launch a big phase of attack but Barnet are up to the task and defend with a solid wall of claret and blue including a massive hit from Dillon on Fullers no 10.
Barnet still on top and pile on the pressure with a big phase of play with some good defensive play from Fullers, a knock on from their no 8 is pounced upon by Jacob and he’s over the line to score. Conversion successful Barnet lead 40:5
Fullers hit back through their pacey winger who intercepts a Barnet pass and with the conversion good Barnet lead 40:12
Some big pressure in the last 5 minutes from Fullers but Barnet stay strong.
