BERFC U16 vs Watford

We have always had a good relationship with watford and historically they have helped us put with development games . Its fair to say that Barnet have progressed somewhat in recent years but its nice to maintain ties to other local clubs and help them out where we can .

Some of the Barnet boys had clearly had late nights and so the first 20 minutes was pretty challenging to watch . Ted Parker stepped up to play 10 for Watford . Ben Green made a nice run down the wing to put Barnet ahead and Watford's solid rucking kept Barnet in touch albeit with some of our stronger boys on the bench . Ikechi ran a lovely line to put Barnet 2 up at the end of the 1st third .

In the second 20 Barnet lent Watford our 1st 15 front row and Ikechi Mere put Watford on the board although some quick thinking from Tommy after a Barnet penalty saw Jacob Hofmann put Barnet ahead only for Tom Watt to equalise for Watford minutes later .

With Jacob playing at 11 we were all all surprised by the next 10 minutes , some say that he may have sneaked a shandy at the club dinner last night but whatever it was it led to a beautiful try in the corner deftly stepping Ikechi . The Hatrick came moments later and in the closing minutes of the game a generous pass from George Sturley made it 4 .

Its difficult to quantify exactly what we got out of the game . Watford certainly looked more organised towards the end , all the boys were having a good time and engaging with the oppo , and it really was a lovely morning when the sun came out .

Our newest player Joseph certainly improved his knowledge of the game . Picking up a round bit of plastic he asked Kevin , "whats this sir ? " Its the Tee Joseph" Kevin replied . Some time later he asked " whats it for sir ? " .. "its for kicking Joseph "

At the next Barnet try Kevin was heard shouting - " Joseph Tee ! " Joseph equipped with his new knowledge sprinted on to the pitch happy to be able to help , only to do a u turn and run back to Kev . " who do I give it to sir ? " ....
