Wasps just too strong for the Barnet Lads

Today was always going to be a tough call , that said I was in no doubt that Barnet could pull off the win .

Wasps arrived long before even the barnet coaches . Their shirts were hung in the changing rooms ready , in number order , freshly ironed . As team manager its a relief when the lads remember their shirts , let alone knowing what an iron is .

That pretty much summed up the game today . Wasps meticulous in their warm up and set plays , the Barnet lads just happy to turn up and get stuck in .

With a few of our strongest lads either ill or injured the others rallied well and Wasps certainly knew they had played a game of sorts and Barnet were unlucky not to get the bonus point after a few missed opportunities tho let it be said Wasps were the deserved winners .

Wasps were straight out of the blocks and quick to score capitalising on Barnets defence just standing off and waiting for Wasps to run at them .Josh Bindon made a good run and the Barnet mud just stopped him capitalising out wide . the resulting line out saw Tommy make a great clearance . Barnet started finally finding their feet at 14 minutes with some good double decker work from Camaeron but still Barnet suffered with lost ball in the rucks .Barnet looked the stronger side towards the end of the half with some lovely kicks from Tommy and immense tackling from Captain Tom Watt . After an unfortunate incident on the opposing sideline the Ref clearly slowed the tempo of the game to great effect although this took the wind out of Barnet's sails .

Wasps started strongly again in the second half with Barnet conceding an early penalty . Some great footwork and tackling by Leevin saw Barnet make good ground only to get turned over again . The resulting Wasps clearance was knocked on by Barnet putting Wasps in touch with the try line . Only a try saving tackle from Tom Watt kept Barnet in the game .

A superb run form Tom nearly put Barnet over the line before some more RGbarG from both sides leading to a sending off for one of the WASPS lads and with the discipline unravelling the ref blew the final whistle .

Fair play to WASPS who were the better team and who were respectful at the whistle . Thanks to both teams for the impromptu minutes silence for Julia , and it was great to see all the lads jumping in the baths after the match .
