Proud day for Barnet U16s

And that just about sums it up . Our boys played their hearts out , everyone of them giving 100% and playing , at times , some beautiful creative rugby . We had pods , we had zonal play , we had hard lines and we beat a team who we would never have even showed up to a few years ago .

When we were given the draw against Letchworth the coaches and I joked about just how far we've come . You have to bear in mins we have never made it past the first round of the plate historically so to get picked for the cup is just base luck and then to draw an away fixture against the side that won division 1 just 2 years ago is certainly the short straw .

We were even fairly relaxed that 3 or 4 of our stronger players couldn't make the game as our attitude was lets turn up and have some fun .

However a rousing team talk by Dylan Jimni , who personally knows some of Letchworths academy players , made it very clear that Barnet were going to make them work for it . And that they did ......

There are so many moments of play to talk about and the whole match was breathless . The 14-0 scoreline at halftime was flattering to Letchworth as Barnet had lots of opportunities but its the tiny mistakes that let the hosts through .

Tom Watt scored a blistering try just after the break and his performance was exemplary today . Other mentions to Ted Parker , back in his old position he really looked to have his mojo back and made some great runs and clever kicking play . Dylan Jimni , who did the work of 3 players was exhausted after the game , Parsa Mohajer also brought out of the pack to give us another strike runner looked great . Leevin Nigimbi at 15 got so much more ball today , ran some superb lines and made some inspiring tackles . Our stand in front row deserve a mention in Usman and Albert , Joe Gallagher superb and controlled at 9 , and finally man of the match Reece who made metre after metre in his relentless drives through the centre .

Hats off to all the lads who should be so proud of their efforts and we can all look forward to progressing in the competition .
