BERFC U16 vs ONGAR

Much like last weeks match our oppo today were a team we normally have the better of and so with only 15 development players available we felt comfortable of an even game .

The cold may have played some part in it , or the last minute Ref who pinged ( and rightly so ) every infringement from both sides , but Ongar had Barnet on the back foot from the off .

Whilst our boys played their hearts out and for 90% of the game were still in it Ongar's possession just meant Barnet were unable to get the points . On the few occasions where a loose Ongar ball allowed our backs into the game we scored . Ongars forwards in particular were relentless and their number 8 in particular crashed through the Barnet defense on a number of occasions with body position being the only real criticism of Barnet other than a couple of poor decisions not least playing the ball in the Barnet dead ball zone and possibly not making the most of the wind .

Tom Watt as ever was superb as was the coaches player of the day George Sturley who wasn't giving up even at the last whistle and who looks to be solidly back on form after injury . There was some frustration from our more experienced players and a brief handbag moment but given it was a development fixture the team still looked solid .
