Great result under tricky conditions

With the Enfield League game already having been postponed and with 4 league or cup fixtures approaching the thought of a postponement was less than appealing . Enfields grounds were deemed to be unplayable and so it was decided to play at Barnet . Both Colin and I would like to personally thank our Juniors Chairman Phil for opening the club and making the fixture happen ( not least because he gave up his Sunday morning with all other fixtures cancelled ) and also Jane Waters who stepped in to cater for both sides with just a few hours notice .

The pitch was in perfect condition at the later KO and Enfield were quick to capitalise on the fast surface dominating the first 10 minutes with some aggressive play from their forwards eventually giving them the first try with some super lines . Barnet looked on the back foot although with the eventual arrival or Parsa Mohajer and George Sturley Barnet began to find their feet . Tom Watt was unlucky to equalise a few minutes later with the ball just going into touch after being forced into the Enfield corner . However Harry Joseph was able to get the ball over at the back end of the first half . Enfield retook the lead minuted later after some poor handling by Barnet but both teams struggled with converting from the corners .

Some excellent lines by Cameron McNeil brought the equaliser and a great Run By Ted Parker who really has found his mojo at centre put Barnet one try clear at half time .

Enfield really played their hearts out today and with limited subs and 2 players sent off Barnet took control in the second half . In some ways it was a similar game to the last time we met with Barnet's fitness giving them the edge . Despite some scrappy handling and a need to play simple rugby the Barnet tries came thick and fast in the second half with Parsa Mohajer superb taking the ball at pace and making good ground . Special mentions also to Tom Watt who found space where there was none and to Dylan Jimni and Gerorge Sturley for some heroic runs .

When the final whistle went Barnet were the deserved winners but hats off to both teams for keeping it under control and for keeping their handbags firmly stowed .

Player of the day goes to Oli for always being first to the ball and making sure the ball was secure . Great Job lads and thanks to the excellent Ref and to the Enfield lads for making it happen against the odds !
