A good friendly fixture, against old rivals and near neighbours, gave BOBBY Graham the opportunity to see most of the Senior players ahead of this Saturday's League and Merit Table matches.

Things did not go too well, in the opening 20 minutes or so, as the visitors dominated the game, had all the possession and territory, and found the BE defence to be wanting at time, scoring two tries with one conversion to be 12-0 up after just a quarter of the game. However, in line with the friendly pre-season fixture agreement, the game was played in four quarters which meant BE made the first of several changes, to utilise their squad system and set up various combinations of players, at the first break and this helped BE start to wrestle control of the match although it took until the final minute of the half before LEO CHADWELL made a storming run from the half-way line to score a try.

From 5-12 at the interval, playing now downhill and with more player changes, BE went up a couple of gears and were soon level with the first of two tries by JULES PRITCHARD with later scores from ARNIE HIGSON, IAN SUTHERLAND and a second by JULES PRITCHARD, and all four second half tries being converted, giving BE a comfortable scoreline ahead of the League and Merit Table fixtures.

These start this Saturday (all matches kick-off at 3pm) as follows:
1st XV at home to Imperial Medicals; 2nd XV also at home to Hampstead and the 3rd XV away to Hampstead.
